Chester Morrow, an ONI Associate, was struck by a van on Easter Sunday. On May 4th, he was moved from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, where he spent several weeks in the ICU to the Madonna Rehabilitation Center in Lincoln to begin additional treatments and rehabilitation. ONI will split the net proceeds from our golf tournament with a fund for Morrow.
The Chester E Morrow Jr. Donation Fund has been set up to help with his medical bills and other expenses.
Morrow was crossing West Center Road in the crosswalk at 139th Street when he was struck by the westbound vehicle around 3 p.m. When he first arrived at UNMC, he had many injuries including a head injury, broken leg and a torn aorta.
He has come a long way since Easter Sunday. He is no longer in a coma and is breathing on his own. Surgeries have repaired the tear in his aorta, and his leg and other wounds are healing nicely. Morrow opens his eyes frequently, and he communicates mostly through sign language. He is able to move his lips and now it is a matter of getting enough strength to push air up and around his tracheotomy tube so he can speak.
At ONI, we do our best to support every associate during their time of need. Our golf tournament is a great way for all of us to support Chester and his family as he recovers from his injuries. Please come out and support Chester on June 7th!
Welcome To Outlook Nebraska, Inc
Outlook Nebraska, Inc. (ONI) is a not for profit organization that formed in early 2000 to provide employment and promote capabilities of the blind and visually impaired. ONI is the largest employer of the blind and visually impaired in Nebraska. ONI's mission stems from our desire to overcome the challenges the visually impaired experience in finding gainful employment.
ONI operates a paper converting operation in Omaha, NE to fill Federal government purchases of washroom and industrial paper products. We are currently raising funds to help facilitate an installation of new tissue converting equipment that will allow us to meet our blind employment goals.
